Three ladies and Ibn Battuta Mall

Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall is purported to be the “World Under One Roof”, aptly enough, if ‘the world’ is the world as it was during the namesake’s time.

A part of the Indian Court with Karen! :)

Ibn Battuta himself was reputed to have had The longest Hajj ever, and his life is well documented in the courts of the mall.

The appropriately themed toilets are also within easy reach :)

It’s definitely worth coming back again as you can get lost in them courts and there will always be something to grab your eye that you may have missed first time through.

A Wasabi Bday

For the boy who loves to eat rawwww ^_^

image image

Introducing Wasabi, the best place in town to get your Sushi (at least accdng to TimeOut and TripAdvisor):

 image image

The sushi here is by far the best in Abu Dhabi, and probably tops anything found across the UAE.

image

Based purely on taste, Wasabi is excellent, but the authenticity of the experience makes it a thoroughly commendable place to eat.

image

While most wasabi found outside Japan these days is an artificial creation of horseradish, mustard and green food colouring, this restaurant is as close to the real thing as you’ll find outside Tokyo.

image image

From the clean-cut decor and modern lines, to the booths with sliding doors and slippers for customers so they can leave their shoes in the hallway, this tiny restaurant offers an originality and flair that most five-star establishments can’t match.

Apart from that, Mungkey and I have taste our fair share of Chinese / Japanese / Korean Restos, even from our hometown,

but if there’s anything that sets this place apart, it has to be their sake.

Though it is a bit hard to get to at the moment because of the road construction, we really took the time to trace the place for this boy cant resist his raw fish & Salmon eggs ^^

Stopping over @ Umm Al Quwain beach side

The weekend itinerary was to go to the famed Dreamland Aqua Park. However, going there from Abu Dhabi meant that we have to go through FIVE emirates to get there. But hey, its all worth the ride (literally, as we dropped by Comedy Junction in Dubai and spent the remaining wee hours of dawn at a quaint beach in Umm Al Quwain).

Dreamland Aqua Park - Umm Al Qwain, UAE

Going to Dreamland Aqua Park from Abu Dhabi, meant that we have to go through FIVE emirates to get there.

Bleary eyed and well pass our limits of tolerance with the extreme dessert heat and seemingly unending road trip, Dreamland appeased us and proved to be just as its name claims - a land of dreams. Celebrated as one of the largest water parks in the region, it is set on amazing 250,000 sq m of land of over 30 thrilling rides, crazy slides, go-karts and a lot of other wet rides and dry attractions. It is big enough to entertain 7,000 visitors per day, and the best part is, because of its unique (read: quite isolated) location, the visitors here are certainly only those who can afford the long travel.

Its gigantic wave pool which is the largest in the region, with 1,250,000 litres of water all stirred into huge waves at ten minutes interval. Even the most competent of swimmers were not allowed to not divest a life jacket in the huge wave pool, a simulation of some of the toughest waves that once only nature can stir. More to that, there's also a 40 meter-long, completely pitch black tunnel slide, a refresher from the blinding sunlight outside which greets you almost obscenely at the end of the slide, with a splash! There’s also wild rafting river rides, gigantic body slides, a quite dangerous twister; Hippos Island, Twisting Dragons or Kamikaze. Some of the water attractions have temperature controlled waters.  For those who doesn't want to get wet but still enjoy, Dreamland has dry attractions like sporting sports, Cyber Zone and mini zoo, and of course, its souvenir and convenience shops.

Whew, enough with the wild talk. Tickets are around 100 Dhs each for adults, but they currently have a Free 2 Go Wild promotion, from 19th June till 19th August 2009. Visitors get a 50% off the entry fee when they arrive at Dreamland for the second time and for the third time the entry is absolutely free.
